Ladies and Gents, the Time has Come.

As much as it pains me greatly to have to say this, which surely will bring about much grief and regret to my loyal readers, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

I'm moving.

The difficult decision was made after it was brought to my attention that my site has been infiltrated by a pesky pop-up that just refuses to go away, despite my feeble attempts. It will go away if one clicks 'close', but well, i realise it is very irritating to have to be asked to download a variety of ringtones or take up some unsecured personal loan each time you guys decide you're bored enough wanna read about my uninteresting life stories.

Hence my decision.

It has been a good 3 1/2 years, we've had our ups and downs. It's a mutual decision; we're parting on amicable terms, and i am quite sure we will remain friends. For now, i'm saddened, but we have to move on, and this is the best for both of us.

My new home is at xanga. www.xanga.com/j******* That's my full name in small letters. I didn't type it all out here cuz i don't want random strangers going to my new place.

So... for the last time.... that's all folks, thank yall for your kind support over the years. I'm out.

Martha & Ivan - Hip Hop

The fact that there is absolutely no more good shit left to watch on tv these days has made me resort to youtube and Sin's satc dvds. I saw this on youtube some time ago. It has the cassie song, which i love, and hiphop, which i love (when in the mood), so there you go.

The girl's so so, the guy is good, and the choreography is awesome.

Saturday, January 6

As fate would have it, my deskstop decided to quit on me on 01012007. I guess these kinda things only happen to me.

My first Friday in what must be a year and a half (for reals) having dinner at home and staying in. If that's a sign for things to come in 2007, that aint good. I guess lugging a laptop around, now that i am forced to bring it home, isn't really my idea of fun on a friday night. Moreover, i've been feeling under the weather (no pun intended) since end of 06, start of the new year. My computer's sick and so am i.

I'm not one who likes the whole network for the sake of network, schmoozing moozing thingy (as much as i acknowledge it's a absolute necessity in life), but it so happened that i had the opportunity to go for one such event yesterday night. In a nutshell, it's one of those HR consulting firms telling a roomful disillusioned, world weary, just stepped into a brand new peak auditors what they think they wanna hear they shud do abt their lives. Geddit? Picture that. Throw in some waiters carrying around plates of what i call atas food that's all small and dainty and pretentious and tastes like crap which i didn't get to eat anyway so what the heck. (pls pardon the incessant rambling, it's must be the after effects of a week-long antibiotics trip).

I seriously doubt i'd do anything anytime this year, unless something really drastic happens. Whatever happens after w!ngta!, however, is anybody's guess. So whatever that happens now is slowly but surely building up to what i like to call 'preparing for my future post-w!ngta!'.

Ok the internet is (sorta) back up, I'm stuck at home from the bad weather and bored, so this is what i was talking abt in my previous post. Sin commenting on my wallpaper inspired me to do it again.

After all, what's better in life than to have people whom i love (and who love me too!) So yes, this is for all of you. I tried to pick photos that includes most people i know, and whom i bothered to whip out my lousy camera for a photo with this year.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

As the title aptly says it all. The convo one is cheating cuz that was obviously last year, but i just tot it was cute.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This one is of friends specifically from work, cuz i didn't have enough space above to fit everyone in.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This one is of E's dnd (ironically not P's) this year, which i wanted to do a collage of but never got down to until now. So might as well la.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Just for shits and giggles (stealing the phrase from Sin and Cel), I did one for the 2005 dnd as well just for comparison purposes. And so u all can laugh over how i looked like burnt toast last year. Bleach me out, add on extra lines under my eyes and horrid eye bags u got me this year!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Just because i took like 80% of the total number of photos i have this year in Taipei, I just had to have this. Good times. I promised Jess Seoul and Tokyo but i have no idea when that will materialise. sigh..............

Ironically, the festive season can be a pretty depressing time, isnt it. After all the laughter and merry making dies down, the last piece of honey baked ham in your stomach is digested, the last ounce of alcohol in your liver has broken down..... all that's left is... really really bad weather (i'm getting sick of the rain), earthquakes, disasters and what nots.

Let's hope the new year will be a better one for all.

The time is coming for the annual end of the year wrap up post. Wanted to do something different this year, other than the usual top ten lists, reflections on the year, new year resolutions and so on. Unfortunately i'd have to wait for the internet to come back up again... goodness knows when that will be.

3 more days to my house getting more crowded and occupied again. It was strange for the first few days... but Sin you're right! I've grown used to and enjoyed being alone at home very much. I could watch tv whenever i want, walk around naked, have free use of the car.... I love my family... but this was very nice.

Who's up for the cannery this weekend????

MERRY CHRISTMAS YAAAAAAAA'LLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time to overdose on the sugar, stuff yourself with too much ham and turkey, and get the bloody hell drunk. =)

Just don't blow 18 bucks on a slice of turkey k... That's a story for another time.

Sunday, December 17

Just when i was telling some people last week about how my jobs in P have been pretty cushy so far, I had to go land some shitty-ass job that my ex firm discarded (irony of all ironies) a couple of years ago. Ok, to be fair, it's not as bad as the worst i had in E.. but it's.... not good. I gotta learn to stop jinxing myself. Now i have to survive till christmas to get my long awaited break.

So the potluck gathering yesterday turned out to be.. well... a much smaller affair than i'd expected. But still... it was all good. Night of carbo and sugar excesses... thanks to my pasta and brownies, ZH's addictive chips and logcake, Sin's crackers and cheese AND WINE. You get the idea. Never underestimate the amount of junk 3 girls can tuck away over one night, especially over satc dvds, some 'fortune telling', and a short attempt at scattergories. Thanks ladies for the fabulous company and food. Now i know it takes (more than) 1 auditor, 1 consultant/ex-venture capitalist, and 1 marketeer to open a bottle of wine.

Yes, you read correctly above, i made brownies. Quite amazing, considering that i usually choose to shy away from the kitchen, for good reasons (nobody needs to get a bout of food poisoning around this time of the year). But yeah i guess readily packaged brownie mix bought in a box is a no brainer even for someone like me.

Tomorrow i'm hosting a poker game, casino royale style (minus the high stakes) at my house. I'm totally maxing out the use of my empty house! I must say i'm starting to get used to the peace and quiet i've been having these couple of weeks... it does have its perks... and free use of the car... this girl aint complainin'. Let's just hope i don't lose all my xmas shopping money on poker tmr.

Saturday, December 9

Tiring weekend. Started on Thursday night where i attended E's dnd... ended off early on a Saturday morning, after my own current coy's 'xmas bash' at dxo, and short appearance at Butter. In between having only 5 hours of sleep at most, cuz i had to rush for a training at 830 am the next day.

Crashed. Feeling the effects of not being 18 anymore. Not complainin though. Dnd wasn't so bad considering I got to see most of my friends from E, even the ones who already left. Probably next year we could all form alumni tables that would greatly outnumber the ones still employed. A bit of a downer though knowing that it's a work day tomorrow, hence many people laid off the alcohol. No more wheelchairs this year.

The bash the next day was slightly livelier, even if it was quite slow to pick up. An excuse to drink and eat for free, no one was going to pass on that! I was quite determined to drink my share, despite feeling very stoned the whole day from lack of sleep. My counselling group won second in the xmas decoration competition! Not that i had anything to do with it. Typically.

The fam is now having the time of their lives in la la land, while here i am stuck in SINGAPORE, still spending my time between Coronation and Cross street.

Life sucks.

The house is so quiet i don't even feel like being in it for long.

What does bored lonely girl do alone at home on a weekday night? Bored lonely girl watches too much junk on youtube.

Tuesday, November 28

After numerous infections and irritations in the recent months, my contact lens woes has cumulated to a point today where my right lens was torn right across from excessive rubbing and tugging. They lasted me barely a year. Damn. I've booked my evaluation test for mid Jan next year, and if it means i have to sacrifice leave (and four thousand dollars) for it next May, i will do just that.

I am going to get lasiked! Enough of all the stupid problems with my lens that are pissing the hell outta me. Bugger. I'm pissed!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I bumped into Anna Fu (my sec sch chem tutor) on the bus home today. Normally when it comes to such people that i havent seen in 100000 years, i wouldn't approach them, for how embarrassing it would be if it was mistaken identity. However,u know there's this cliche about how sometimes you will meet someone that you havent seen in 1000000 years, and he/she hasnt changed a single bit, even though 100000 years have passed?
She hasnt changed a single bit.
Same messy, curly short hair, same dowdy clothes, same blur expression on her face. I can even remember her voice even before she spoke.
As Wei said... makes me feel nostalgic thinking of people from that era of my life.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Speaking of that era, it always amazes me that till today, i have never failed to recognise an ex tchs-hcjc guy within 5 minutes of meeting him.

I asked for banks, and all i got is a 3 effing month long bloooddy local listed job. During the supposed off peak period of June to Sep 2007 no less. wtf. It's not like i particularly enjoy job-hopping, but circumstances just tend to make me reevaluate my career choices at that same time every year.

I guess i must appreciate this short time where i am still fairly happy. Having a client in Orchard has its perks; i'd know that. Even managed to meet up with Daixing for lunch. There's something about the festive season that brings out the best(worst?) of shopaholics like me. Did some (minimal) damage at FOS, which is just discovered. I'm must have been living under a rock.

My pimp of piracy (ooh that has a cute ring ot it) from my firm finally handed over the goods last week. The goods being Prison Break S1 dvd and part of S2. I'm so addicted. My boy likes it too , so i'm sure there's more to it than pretty boy Scofield.

Speaking of shows, check this out, all ten parts to it. Dear told me abt it; arguably better and definitely dirtier than Russell Peters.

I figured out how to post youtube videos directly onto my blog. Yay!! (ok admittedly this is far from rocket science).

Check out this hilarious clip i found... It's damn funny and yet strangely hot at the same time. I must have been a gay man in my past life.

Mad TV - Gay Straight Guys

Let's take a poll now for all straight guys (or those who think they are straight). Would you do this if you're that excited over a soccer game?

a) Yes
b) Hell no!
c) Only if my fave team wins
d) Only if the guy is hot
e) Only if i'm horny

Busiest week i've had in 3 months. I feel normal again.

Sunday, November 12

Usual Sunday blading session with the colleagues. I call them colleagues instead of EX colleagues, cuz they will always be my colleagues and frens to me.

Chatting with them makes me realise that most of them are very disgruntled. Kai explains it as a lack of 'sense of belonging' anymore. I kinda see what she's getting at; for myself it's not an issue becuz i nv expected, and there won't ever be, any form of feelings of belonging to P in the first place. P is just a place with better working conditions, and at the end of the day, it's all just work, if nothing else. Sometimes i wished we all just joined P right from the start. Then i'll have both the better working environment, and the friends with me... And maybe we'll all be happier now. But of coz life never works that way. Too many maybes and what-ifs.

I'm not complaining for now though. Hearing them talk makes me know that at least i am better off now than if i had stayed on, that's for sure. For the last 3 weeks, i have learnt more than i ever learnt in my last 6 months in E. That says a lot. And i feel happier doing what i do. I like doing banks. I like what i get to learn when i do banks. P better give me more banks!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Enough of work talk. ECP was swamped with pesky kids today. I saw this scene which appalled me; This big tall guy was with his kid... a toddler... probably about 2 years old, at the age where he probably just started walking on his own. The kid was strapped to these red straps, kinda like a leash-like contraption, and the father was holding on to the leash like he was walking his pet dog or something. Is this a new trend that i dunno about... baby is the new dog??? Wth... i mean i see the reason for having that leash thing.... but seriously... what's wrong with just holding his hands?? Wouldn't that have the same effect as a leash, only more humane, cuz u know, maybe he's your baby and u don't walk him the same way you walk a dog???
What are people thinking really.
Sunday, November 5
Ok now for my actual weekend entry.
NAB yesterday wasn't too bad... music was good, company was good, drinks were definitely good (thanks Sin for the bubbly!). Too bad for the old fogey kwai lo crowd. Never before had i sat at a club from like... 8 plus all the way to 3 in the morning... one table to ourselves... 5 bottles of bubbly... 1 giant plate of fish fritters and chips that i finished off 99% by myself (damnit with zero exercise this week!), a little bit of Sin's beer and mojitos at the end.. 1 glass of amarito (or whatever that is... thanks to Sin's man.. i mean fren...)... and i'm still standing at 3 am in the morning! Go me!
Bumped into the most random of people too. BJQ...ahem... that one i blame Sin... And Yihui... aka Nicholas... I think the last time i saw her in person was back in HCJC... Was dancing with her when we were laughing over how we used to club together 6-7 years ago at the likes of Hendrix and Kream... Drinking from our giant plastic white cups of whiskey coke...I know... classic case of what were we thinking. For those who dunno what i'm talking abt... don't ask.
Anyone interested in a weekend spa? Applications start today on my tagboard. haha.
I typed 2 entries at work this week... didn't have the internet connection to post them, so i shall post them now.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On 2 consecutive days this week, I got calls from 2 separate headhunters seeking to fill banking and finance positions. I didn't bother to ask what kinda banking positions,as i didnt think that job hopping within 2 months of being at my new firm would look very good nor logical on my resume. Still... sigh.. why couldn't it have happened at a better time. Like 5 months ago. SIGHZ! Did i make the right decision. Is there even a RIGHT DECISION anyways.

My girl Sin, on the other hand, has moved on to greener pastures. Congratulations, though belated on this blog, are in order. NAB awaits Friday night!

I'm typing this entry at work because i've no mood to work. Have had a persistent headache since the morning, my bloody slow client has given me a deadlock at work, my eye infection from last week has moved on to my right eye (now it's pinkeye), I feel like i'm falling sick... blah... I think i shall mc myself on thursday. Haven't taken one since August, but that was for my interview so that doesn't count too.
I feel very BLAH this week. Pls let the weekend come quick so i can just hide in bed and sleep it away.

*Typed on Tuesday 31 October*

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I bought a floral dress over the weekend, and my mom had all sorts of comments for it.
'Since when do you like floral prints on your clothes??? And large sleeves??'
I don't normally and but the dress looks nice ok.
'The colour combination is so ah mah! I tot it was the maid's dress!'
Erm... when even my mom comments that the colours are ah mah, i start to question if my tastes have taken a downward slide.
'The maid told me that she also found the colour to be ah mah!'
Her job is to wash the clothes! Shut up maid. Ok just kidding. I love my maid. Even if she thinks my dress is ah mah. Which it is not.
Update: The eye is better now. The BLAHness... not.
TA is going to Korea for a week for stock take. A WEEK! Sin is going to Japan. The 2 places in Asia i am dying to go. I'm so jealous. Even my bloody family is going to the states for a month in december without me. I want a vacay too!!!!! WHEN!!!!!!
I just realised that about 9 out of 10 of my close audit frens have gone overseas for work assignments. Except me. Even bloody KL or Batam or Bintan or whatever would be good.. but also none of that for me. CRAP.
*Trying a new font just for kicks.
Everyone should watch this, if the link doesn't work, just go to youtube and search '1 litre of tears'. It's some Jap drama based on a real story of a girl with an illness that causes her nervous system to stop functioning completely, causing loss of body function and movement of any sort.
It's TAMADE sad. I havent watched any show so heartwrenching since qing1 qing1 he2 bian1 cao3 when i was seven. (just kidding of course, there are lots of things sadder than that stupid taiwanese soap). Sean who told me abt the show said that, in his own words, 'If you don't cry by ep 3, you're very lihai'.
I cried at 6.
Being who normally poo poos at all sappy dramas (as if life is not depressing enough), I still found a challenge like that hard to resist. That led on to me finishing all 11 eps in 5 days, and making a bet with Lydia (at stake: 1 movie treat) that she'd also cry by ep 6.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Speaking of crying, one of my clients stunned me yesterday when she started tearing slightly when mentioning how emotional she feels about the change of name of her company. My client just got acquired by another bank so it changed its name to the one of its parent. Had the official launch of the new name yesterday, which all the employees attended. Getting so emotional over one's company is certainly not something i can quite understand or relate to. Then again, with the kind of near zero turnover rate my client has had over the many years it's been in existence, that would explain it a bit.
